Dear Candle Lovers,

I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for supporting Mike’s Candles and to share the story of how it all began.

A few years ago, I was living through some particularly stressful times. My home, in Minnetonka, Minnesota, had always been my refuge, especially during the colder months when all you want is to huddle up and enjoy some peace. But no matter how many candles I bought, none of them felt quite right. Either the scent was too strong, they didn’t burn evenly, or they lacked that cozy, homemade warmth I was searching for.

One night, after a long day, I sat down, lit a candle, and felt… disappointed. That’s when I thought, Why not make my own? It seemed like a wild idea at the time – I had no experience with candle making. But the more I thought about it, the more excited I got. The next weekend, I went out and bought the supplies: soy wax, fragrance oils, wicks, and jars.

Let me tell you, those first candles were far from perfect! Some wouldn’t burn properly, and others had uneven scents. But I was determined. I spent hours researching, testing different waxes, fragrances, and wick sizes. Soon enough, my kitchen was filled with candles that finally captured the feeling I had been looking for – soft, balanced scents, a smooth burn, and that homemade touch.

I started sharing them with friends and family, and they loved them. They would tell me how the candles brought warmth and comfort into their homes. That’s when I realized I was onto something special. What started as a small personal project turned into a passion, and from there, Mike’s Candles was born.

Now, anyone who knows me will tell you I love to add a bit of humor to everything I do – and my candles are no different. That’s why I decided to create a line of funny and witty labels. Whether it’s "Smells like… you’re finally relaxing" or "For when you need to… burn some bad vibes," each candle comes with a label that’s sure to make you smile. Because, let’s face it – life’s too short for boring candles!

I’m proud to say that every candle I make is hand-poured with care, using 100% natural soy wax, clean-burning cotton wicks, and premium fragrance oils. I wanted to create candles that not only fill a room with a beautiful scent but also create a sense of calm and coziness. And of course, I wanted them to bring a little extra joy and laughter to your day.

Whether you’re lighting a candle to relax after a long day, setting the mood for a cozy evening, or gifting one to a loved one (and making them laugh with the label), know that there’s a little piece of my story in every jar.
